We are engaged as legal advisor for Renewables Norway, a non-profit industry organization representing about 400 companies involved in the production, distribution and trading of electricity in Norway, and have through our co-operation with the Federation of Norwegian Industries and Innovation Norway contributed to the creation of the Entry Program for Offshore Wind.
We are involved in the majority of the largest wind power production projects, both on- and offshore, hydropower production and electricity grid projects, thus making our contribution in terms of legal and strategic advice to develop new renewable energy and encourage environmentally friendly solutions and energy production and consumption.

The team’s lawyers cover all legal aspects of the energy sector including structural ownership issues (M&A), regulatory matters (including related to energy trading), financing (project financing, PPAs etc), contractual matters and litigation.

Aksel S. Tannum specializes in Renewable Energy/regulatory issues and Litigation. He is Partner and head of Haavind’s Energy department, as well as a member of the Litigation department.
Key qualifications:
Tannum has worked with the energy sector since 2000, when he was an employee at the Department of Energy law at the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy. He worked in the Ministry until 2005 and was, amongst other things, involved in several central legislative processes. In addition to trade and industry knowledge, his employment at the Ministry has given Tannum important insight into the Ministry’s decision-making processes and a network of contacts, both in the Ministry and at The Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate. Tannum was employed at Haavind in 2005, and has mainly worked with counselling and litigation for the Energy industry.
Tannum has wide experience with legal counselling and dispute resolution, including the Supreme Court, within the renewable Energy sector. He has inter alia comprehensive experience with legal issues regarding grid operations, power generation (hydro and wind power), electricity trading and district heating.

Key qualifications:
Mari specialises in Renewable Energy, Contract law/Construction law and Litigation, and has ten years’ experience as adviser to players within the renewable energy sector.
She advises on issues related to hydroelectric power production, district heating, grid development and wind power, especially related to regulatory issues and constraints, contractual matters, concession issues, establishment and development of power production, energy related transactions, acquisition of waterfall and land rights, government requirements and appraisement. She has extensive experience with complex energy transactions, especially within hydro power and wind power, as adviser to both seller side and buyer side.
Mari also has extensive litigation experience, and significant construction law competence, especially from working with the development of power production facilities within hydro power and wind power.
